ABOUT <~> CONTACT
My name is Rebecca Lawhorne.
I started PoembyBecca, an instant poetry pop-up in 2015. With an antique typewriter and a desire to use poetry to connect with people, I wrote poems on streets, boardwalks and art markets, all across the United States.
People asked for poems about major life experiences or the little things. I hoped to empower them to appreciate the complexity of life.
In 2017, I began working with birch bark, typing poems directly onto fragile pieces with my typewriter.
This, I discovered, lends to a deeper appreciation for the unique and brief moment I share with people. I ask people to help me create a poem on any subject. They can be as involved as they want. Lastly, you pay whatever you want. Everything is created from scratch, from start to finish.
Come see me, or book me to Create, Share and Enjoy.
I can be found in person at the Tanana Valley Farmer's Market in Fairbanks, Alaska for the summer 2018 season.
