Hi you! You found me. My name is Rebecca Lawhorne and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Sometimes our own stories are the hardest to find words for. That's where I come in.
I started writing poems for strangers in 2015 as a way to enjoy and share the magic of being creative and communicating. I never asked for a certain price, but have always let each visitor set their own. This way, my booth is available and equitable to all.
Through the power of listening and the magic of words, it grew into the greatest passion of my life.
In Alaska, I am surrounded by birch forests. The indigenous people having been using this resource for thousands of years and continue to do so. I honor the tradition, and integrity through ethical practices and present you with a one-of-a-kind piece of Alaska.
POEMbyBECCA a is about the joy of combining tactile and intellectual creation. Each experience is a collaboration, ripe with room for surprise and connection. I am continually inspired by the power of words to uplift us. Poetry can be whatever we make it, and the power of poetry is honesty.
